LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear supporters, 2015 was a year of celebration and continued progress for the East Lake Foundation. To commemorate our 20th anniversary, throughout the year, the Foundation participated in a variety of celebratory activities and events. From the Road to East Lake 5K, to the inaugural East Lake Cup collegiate golf tournament, to the Association of Fundraising Professionals' National Philanthropy Day honoring Tom and Ann Cousins, it was a momentous year. We also witnessed an increase in the number of people we impacted through our programs this year. The Resident and Community Support Program, The First Tee® of East Lake, Start:ME East Lake and East Lake Healthy Connections connected with more children and families than ever before. Over the past 20 years, the East Lake Foundation has proven when potential is met with support, the possibilities are limitless. Where a blighted area once existed, now stands a thriving, mixed-income community providing residents with the tools necessary to build a better life for themselves and future generations. Our unique holistic model – encompassing cradle-to-college education, safe mixed-income housing along with community wellness – provides residents with incredible opportunity for success. Working hand-in-hand with the community, public and private partners, and our generous donors, we have turned our dreams into reality. We are making success possible. On behalf of the East Lake Foundation Board and staff, thank you! Your ongoing support sustains our progress made in the East Lake community over the past 20 years. Our work is not finished, however. The East Lake Foundation is continuing to evolve as an organization and we’ve begun to look strategically at how we can expand our work in the community to serve more families. We are confident that with your continued support, East Lake can make more possible.

OUR MISSION The mission of the East Lake Foundation is to provide the tools for families in The Villages of East Lake and students in the Charles R. Drew Charter School education pipeline to build a better life for themselves and future generations through cradleto-college education, mixed-income housing and community wellness. The East Lake Foundation serves as the community quarterback organization in the effort to sustain the successful redevelopment of the East Lake community. The Foundation operates programs, and through integral partnerships it supports other programs and services to transform place and build promise.
ABOUT THE EAST LAKE FOUNDATION Founded in 1995, the East Lake Foundation was formed to revitalize a suffering inner city neighborhood into a vibrant community where all residents can thrive. Over the last 20 years, the East Lake Foundation has proven that working with residents and public and private partners while providing the right combination of comprehensive programs and service is transformative for the community. The East Lake revitalization includes The Villages of East Lake, Charles R. Drew Charter School, East Lake Family YMCA, Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Center, the Charlie Yates Golf Course, East Lake Golf Club and Publix. The East Lake Foundation works with many partners to deliver and support a wide range of programs, including early childhood education, supplemental enrichment at Drew Charter School, college and career readiness and scholarships; entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy training for adults; golf and life skills instruction and healthcare access and education.

IN 2015
economic success made possible The East Lake Foundation worked with the Atlanta Housing Authority and residents to develop The Villages of East Lake 20 years ago to replace the violent and dilapidated East Lake Meadows public housing project. Today, The Villages of East Lake is a safer and well-maintained apartment complex that serves a mixed-income population in 542 homes. The Foundation’s Resident and Community Support Program (RCSP) at The Villages of East Lake provides residents with the services and resources needed to make economic stability possible.

CRADLE-TO-COLLEGE EDUCATION
IN 2015

Drew Charter School and our early learning partners (East Lake Early Learning Academy at the East Lake Family YMCA, East Lake Sheltering Arms Education and Family Center and the Cox Pre-K Program) make the cradle-to-college education pipeline in the East Lake community possible for nearly 1,900 students. Drew Charter School’s students continue to perform at the highest levels across all subjects and grades. Drew’s innovative Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach with an integration of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum and a strong foundation in literacy helps all students reach their highest potential. Drew Charter School’s RISE After School Program aims to eliminate the achievement and opportunity gap by providing important academic, enrichment and cultural activities that reinforce Drew Charter School’s curriculum.

healthy lifestyles made possible Community Wellness is key to a healthy and stable community. Our Community Wellness programs provide a community-focused mix of facilities, programs and services, making it possible to improve the quality of life and opportunities for neighborhood residents. These include better access to recreation, health care, and career coaching, as well as better proximity to banks, grocery stores and other commercial amenities. Our programs include: The First Tee® of East Lake, a golf and life skills program for children ages 5-17; East Lake Healthy Connections, a comprehensive health and wellness program; and Start:ME East Lake, a micro-entrepreneurship accelerator program.

golf creating possibilities Over the last 20 years, East Lake Golf Club played a central role in the remarkable transformation of the East Lake community. The Club’s motto, “Golf with a Purpose,” was coined early in the process, after the realization that golf could be a galvanizing element of the new East Lake community. Today, several high-profile golf events at the Club provide vital financial support to the East Lake Foundation.
TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola Each year, the PGA TOUR’s top 30 golfers participate in this final tournament week of the PGA TOUR and the culminating event of the FedExCup Playoff. This signature event hosts thousands of spectators onsite and millions of viewers on TV and provides the East Lake Foundation the opportunity to share our story of community revitalization with the world.

East Lake Invitational This annual golf tournament at East Lake Golf Club, hosted by PGA TOUR professionals Billy Andrade and Stewart Cink, takes place just a few weeks before the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. Each foursome is paired with either a PGA Tour professional or celebrity for 18 holes of exciting competition. This annual event raised more than $400,000 for the East Lake Foundation.

East Lake Cup In 2015, the East Lake Foundation and East Lake Golf Club in partnership with the Golf Channel hosted the inaugural East Lake Cup, a collegiate two-day match-play competition featuring top-performing teams from the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships. The 2015 tournament featured the University of Georgia, University of Illinois, Louisiana State University, Duke University, Baylor University, University of Southern California and Stanford University.
