Bank of America’s Cheryl Lomax Joins East Lake Foundation Board

The East Lake Foundation today announced that Cheryl Lomax, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Bank of America, has joined the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Lomax has been actively involved in several East Lake Foundation programs, including CREW (Creating Responsible, Educated, Working) Teens and The First Tee® of East Lake.  Bank of America is a long-time supporter of the Foundation, providing funding to both the CREW Teens program and the Resident & Community Support Program at The Villages of East Lake.  Bank of America is also a Founding Sponsor of East Lake Golf Club.  Lomax’s addition brings the Foundation’s Board membership to 15.

“The East Lake Foundation has accomplished much since its founding in 1995,” Lomax said.  “While I’ve been an active volunteer here for some time, I now look forward to making a further contribution to the East Lake community through my work with the Board.”

Under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Larry Schall, President of Oglethorpe University, the East Lake Foundation Board is building both local and national recognition for the Foundation’s work in sustaining the revitalization of Atlanta’s East Lake community through strong corporate, philanthropic and neighborhood support.  The annual TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, held at East Lake Golf Club every September, also contributes a significant financial impact.  The East Lake model is proving to be an effective model for community redevelopment around the United States, as East Lake’s sister organization, Purpose Built Communities, has successfully introduced the holistic model to communities including New Orleans, Indianapolis and Omaha.  Additionally, East Lake’s Charles R. Drew Charter School will open its Senior Academy this July, adding high school grades to its cradle-to-college pipeline.

Lomax, who is responsible for driving Bank of America’s Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy in Georgia, is also a board member of True Colors Theatre, Warrick Dunn Charities and The Atlanta Botanical Garden.  A graduate of Leadership Atlanta, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links Incorporated and Jack & Jill of America.  Prior to her tenure at Bank of America, Lomax, a CPA, served 17 years at The Coca-Cola Company in various leadership positions in both finance and national sales and marketing. Lomax also served five years at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP as Director of Marketing and Director of Community Affairs, Pro Bono and Diversity.
