The East Lake Foundation Announces 2014 Harrison Scholars

Today, the East Lake Foundation announced six recipients of the 2014 Charles W. Harrison Scholarship. The Foundation recognized Henry H. Bierenfeld, Arthur Charles Hagan, Andrew J. Putnam, Mark A. Putnam, Anwar M. Ragham and Aleah D. Wyatt with scholarships that will help support ongoing study at local universities.

The Charles W. Harrison Scholarship provides scholarship opportunities for employees of the East Lake Golf Club and The Charlie Yates Golf Course who exemplify character, integrity and leadership. More than 85 Harrison Scholarships have been awarded since the program began in 1998. Past Harrison Scholarship recipients have gone on to achieve success in both college and careers.The scholarship honors Charles W. Harrison, Georgia golf legend, East Lake neighbor and dedicated instructor in The First Tee® of East Lake.

Andrew Putnam, accepting his scholarship at the awards luncheon, thanked the East Lake Foundation for the recognition. “The financial support that this scholarship has provided my family and me is so appreciated. My wife and I have recently had our first child and we could not have been as successful managing the bills and also the mental stress without the support of the Harrison scholarship and all of those involved. The Harrison Scholarship truly helps me believe in myself and allows me to achieve my goals GA Tech.”
