APPROACH
Wealth Builds is a transformative initiative aimed at closing the wealth gap through programming structured around key pillars that span the cradle-to-college and career continuum. This initiative provides youth with asset boosts, financial knowledge, and the necessary tools to support intergenerational wealth creation. In partnership with Harlem Children’s Zone, the East Lake Foundation is implementing Wealth Builds Atlanta, a localized program.
Wealth Builds Atlanta combines the East Lake Foundation’s holistic pathway of cradle-to-college and career services with financial education and capital investments in our scholars at every stage of their lives.
Financial Education
Scholars receive financial tools and resources, along with support to develop personal financial plans.
Investments for Scholars
Scholars have the opportunity to receive financial investments that grow over time and can be used to pay for college, their first home, or other life goals.
Cradle-to-College and Career Pathway
Scholars benefit from holistic wraparound services that support them from the moment they enter kindergarten to the moment they launch their careers.
KEY PILLARS
College Savings Accounts
Scholars receive seeded college savings accounts (CSAs) to increase savings for college tuition and expenses.
Youth Opportunity Fund
Scholars can earn access to a $10,000 allocation in an investment fund that may be withdrawn in adulthood for activities that catalyze wealth generation (i.e. buying a home, entrepreneurial expenses, and more) upon the completion of key milestones.
Financial Literacy
Scholars benefit from courses and after-school programs to hone financial management skills and promote financial well-being.
Financial Inclusion
Through workshops and information sessions, community members learn skills to realize their financial goals.
Entrepreneurship & Employment
Scholars have access to skill-building resources to support their career and entrepreneurial success.
