Annual Event Invites Runners, Families and Neighbors to Experience East Lake While Supporting Community Programs
ATLANTA—June 17, 2026—Registration is now open for the Run for East Lake 5K & Fun Run, presented by the East Lake Family YMCA and TOUR Championship, taking place Saturday, August 8, 2026. The event is expected to draw 500 East Lake residents, students and supporters for a morning of fitness, community building and giving back.
This year’s Run for East Lake 5K & Fun Run features a route through iconic East Lake landmarks, including a rare opportunity to run on the back nine holes of historic East Lake Golf Club. Participation is open for all fitness levels, from competitive runners to those who prefer a leisurely stroll.
“We are delighted to host the Run for East Lake 5K & Fun Run again this year,” said Ilham Askia, President and CEO of the East Lake Foundation. “We cannot wait to share the beautiful East Lake community with our guests. We invite everyone to come out for a morning of fitness, fun and gathering while giving back.”
The day includes both a 5K race open to all ages and a Fun Run (400-meter dash) for children ages 12 and under. The event will begin and end at Charles R. Drew Charter School’s Junior and Senior Academy (300 Eva Davis Way SE, Atlanta, GA 30317), with the 5K race beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the Fun Run following at 9:00 a.m. Water stations, paramedics and community activities will be on-site to ensure a safe, engaging experience for all participants.
Early bird registration is available through June 21, 2026, at a discounted rate at https://bit.ly/RunforEastLake. All registered participants will receive a race t-shirt, and awards will be presented to 5K winners in each age group and all Fun Run participants.
Proceeds benefit the East Lake Foundation, a place-based organization established in 1995 that collaborates with The Villages of East Lake residents, Drew Charter School families and key service partners to ensure every member of the East Lake community has access to the resources, tools and supports needed to thrive.
“We are grateful to the East Lake Family YMCA and TOUR Championship for their partnership in bringing this event to life,” said Askia. “Together, we are creating opportunities for connection, wellness and community engagement that strengthen East Lake and support the people who call it home.”
The East Lake Foundation invites additional local businesses and organizations to support the event as well.
